A Jewish wedding is not complete without the Hora, or chair dance.
In this tradition, a few strong and brave guests hoist the bride and groom high above the crowd on chairs to the infectious music of “Hava Nagila”.
Friends and family dance around in a circle as the elevated couple tries not to fall off.
The gladdening of the bride, in which guests dance around the bride, and can include the use of “shtick” – silly items such as signs, banners, costumes, confetti, and jump ropes made of table napkins.
